Innovative Solutions to Real-Life Business and Social Problems Using AI and Cloud Technology

Faculty Advisor: Associate Professor, Computer Science, New York University

Research Practicum Introduction

Over a relatively short period of time, various innovations have transformed the way data is stored and analyzed and made it possible to tackle real-life business and social problems in a way that was unthinkable before. Most recently, decentralized Fog and Edge, and Cloud data management, and processing services are making it possible to store and process large amounts of data at scale, in a non-cost prohibitive fashion. These newer approaches and tools have allowed computer and data scientists to monetize “big” data and parallel processing by performing real-time analytics and building real-life (cognitive) computing applications that were not impossible to tackle before.

With the advent of 5G+ technology, decentralized mobile solutions based on all these recent innovations will be able to provide optimal user experience and service quality while keeping power consumption at a minimum. These upcoming solutions will enable a super-society where machines will proactively support humans in their day-to-day activities allowing our civilization to leap into progress at quantum speed.

This program will introduce the latest Cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Web3 Decentralized Applications technologies that can be combined to create next-generation real-life multi-cloud innovative Intelligent Autonomous Networked (IAN) business and social solutions. Students will learn about services provided on the top “Big Clouds”, namely Amazon AWS Cloud, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure Cloud, IBM Cloud, Salesforce, and others.

Throughout the program, students will develop their own Intelligent Autonomous Networked (IAN) business solutions using Cloud-based machine and deep learning and other Cloud services. In particular, interested students will be given access to simulation platforms that facilitate the development of machine learning agents for various real time applications in the Global Markets (e.g., Fintech trading bots), Healthcare (e.g., Mhealth management bots), and other industries.

Project Topics

  • The latest cloud computing technologies, including the top “Big Clouds” like Amazon’s AWS Cloud, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure Cloud, IBM Cloud, Salesforce, etc.

  • Cloud-related services like computing and hosting services, storage services, networking services, big data services, and machine/deep learning services.

  • How to build and support cognitive computing

  • How to develop Intelligent Autonomous Networked (IAN) business solutions using Cloud-based machine and deep learning and Cloud services

  • Augmented/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) and User Experience and Interfaces (UX/UI)

  • Use simulation platforms to practise real time applications in the Global Markets (e.g., Fintech trading bots), Healthcare (e.g., Mhealth management bots), and other industries.
